The purpose of the Journal of Quantitative Sciences (JofQS) is to contribute to the development of the branches of profession for quantitative science at national and international level. Journal of Quantitative Sciences (JofQS) is an interdisciplinary journal covering studies in the fields of science, engineering, social and health sciences using statistical methods.

Theoretical and applied studies in the fields of statistical theory, applied statistics, statistical information systems, operations research and risk analysis are within the scope of the journal.

o The journal has taken into account the spelling rules of the APA (American Psychological Association) in the spelling rules.

The plagiarism rate in the articles submitted to this journal cannot exceed 20%.

The journal examines the articles with a double-blind peer review process.


o The study must comply with grammar rules.

o In the article, the latest TDK Spelling Guide should be taken as basis in the use of punctuation marks, and the wording and abbreviations should be followed, a clear and simple way of expression should be followed, and unnecessary information that goes beyond the scope and purpose should not be included. In the preparation of the article, the valid scientific methods should be followed, the subject of the study, its purpose, scope, the reason for the preparation, etc. the information should be provided in sufficient order and in a certain order.

o Title: The title should be in Turkish and English. It should be short, clear and adequately reflective of the content of the article, should be written in capital letters and bold, and should not exceed 16 words.

o Abstract and Keywords: The Turkish abstract should reflect the purpose, scope and results of the study. The abstract should be at least 150 and at most 300 words in length, and Turkish keywords with minimum 3 and maximum 7 words should be written under one line of the abstract. In addition, the abstract, title and keywords must be in English. Articles written in a foreign language should include titles, abstracts and keywords in Turkish, English and the written language. Care should be taken to avoid language mistakes in abstracts in a foreign language. TAB gap should not be used in Summary and Abstract sections.

o Main Text: It is preferred to write the articles not exceeding 25 pages by using MS Office Word software program (with .doc or .docx extension).

o Page Setup:      A4, Times New Roman, 12 font size
                             Margins 2.5 cm from right, left, top and bottom
                             Line Spacing 1.5
                             Page number should be given at the bottom of the page, centered
                            TAB should be given in each carriage, except for the abstract.


o Main headings: All of them should be written in capital letters, left aligned and bold. Numbering will be made except for the INTRODUCTION and RESULT sections.
o Subheadings: All dark, left-aligned; the first letter of each word must be capitalized.
o Numbering of Titles: Numbering of titles to be used in the article should be as follows:

o Reference Usage: In a candidate article, the author is required to indicate the owner and source of any information, data, opinion that does not belong to him. In addition, reference should be made to the previous publication when transmitting information and views from another publication published by the author. Each source given in the text should also be in the bibliography list.

o In-Text Reference Usage: In the citations, “and” should be used among the authors, not the & sign.
    Example, the work of Saraç and Çolak (2012)… (Do not put the apostrophe in parentheses)
   (Synder and Carnahan, 2014), (Connell, Carta and Baer, 1993)
    If there are more than two authors, the citations should be in the text as "Surname, et al. (Year)".
    Example, Özen, et al. (2002) in the study….

o Order of Citations: Citations must be arranged alphabetically in parentheses.
    Example, (Akçamete & Kargın, 1996; Ayer, 1984; Mert, 1996; Özen, Çolak & Acar, 2002; Sağıroğlu, 2006; Sucuoğlu, 2001)


o In the quoted Source Text: Seidenberg’s study (1993) (as cited in Coltheart, 1996) ...             
In Bacanlı's (1992) (act., Yüksel, 1996) study ...


o Same Surname Author: If there are two authors of the same surname, the initials of the authors' names must be given together with their surnames.                 
Example is “……….” In the articles made by N. Özdemir (1985) and M. Özdemir (1990). In the researches of R. D. Luce (1959) and P. A. Luce (1986)…


o Studies of the Same Author with the Same Date: If the same author has more than one study with the same date, the end of the date should be sorted in lowercase letters (such as a, b, c). The order of citation in the text should be taken into account in the order.
Example, (Demir, 1990a, 1990b, 1990c; Yılmaz, 1992 edition-a, 1992 edition-b) Baheti, (2001a), Baheti (2001b)


o Two Studies of the Same Author: While two studies belonging to the same author are given, they should be given according to the years of the studies.
Example, (Myers, 1998, 2003)

o Personal Communication Sources: Information obtained through sources such as personal letters, interviews and e-mail. Only the source is shown in the text, not in the bibliography list. When giving the source, if possible, the exact date should be given.

Tables, Figures and Appendices
            
o Elements such as tables, figures, pictures and graphics should be included in the text. It should not be given at the end of the study.
o You should be selective about how much visual items (such as tables, graphics, figures) will be used in the article.
o The main thing is to convey the information in the article in the most understandable way to the reader; tables, complex figures and graphics, which are long and full of numbers, sometimes make the information given more difficult to understand. Therefore, the results that can be clearly understood in the study should not be given in the table. For example, mostly statistical significance tests can be easily expressed in text: “One way variance analysis results, F (1,148) = 4.96, p = .031, *** p <0.01, ** p <0.05, * p <0.10 according to the socioeconomic level in the form of a meaningful difference… like ”.
o Statistical results given in the text should not be given in the table. Statistics given in the table should not be written again in the text, but should be referred to the table.
o Vertical lines separating columns and horizontal lines separating rows should not be used in tables; underscores at the beginning and end of the table and lines below the rows with column headings should be made clear.
o 9-point Times New Roman font should be used in tables and figures other than the general template. In the paragraph section of the Paragraph tab; field before and after 0, line spacing must be odd.
o Tables and figures should be left-justified and text wrapping should be off
o Tables and figures should be numbered in the order they are given in the article (For example, Table 1, Table 2, Table 3, Figure 1, Figure 2, Figure 3)
o A given table should be cited in the text. When referring to the tables, the table number should be used. Statements such as “in the table below, in the table above” should not be used. (For example, when looking at Table 5…)
o Explanatory notes may be included under the table or figure, and the source of the table taken from another source should be given as a note under the table.
o In general, while the elements such as table, figure, picture and graphic are given in the text, the following format features should be taken into consideration.
o The materials that are not suitable to be given in the text should be given as “attachment”, after each reference, on a new page.
o If there is only one supplement in the article, it should be titled as “Appendix” and should be referred to in the text in the same way (see Appendix A). If there is more than one appendix, it should be listed as “Appendix A, Appendix B,…” and should be referred to in the text in the same way (see Appendix A, Appendix B).
o Attachments that are not cited in the text should not be included as attachments. The appendices must also have titles and, if desired, include formulas, numbers, tables, figures or drawings.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

In the Journal of Quantitative Sciences (JofQS), it is important that all stakeholders (authors, readers and researchers, publishers, referees and editors) comply with the standards of ethical principles in all kinds of publication processes. Our journal has adopted the principles of Higher Education Council and Publication Ethics Board (https://publicationethics.org) and school guides and policies regarding ethical duties and responsibilities.


AUTHORS 'ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Author (s) who submit a study to our journal must comply with the following ethical responsibilities;

• It is expected that the works submitted by the author (s) will be original. If the author (s) benefit from or use other studies, they must cite and / or quote completely and accurately.
• People who do not contribute to the content in the creation of the study should not be specified as authors.
• The situations and relationships of all studies submitted for publication that may create a conflict of interest, if any, should be explained.
• The author (s) may request raw data regarding their articles within the framework of evaluation processes, in such a case, the author (s) should be ready to present the expected data and information to the editorial board and scientific board.
• The author (s) must have a document showing that they have the rights to use the data used, the necessary permissions for the research / analysis, or that the consent of the experimental subjects has been obtained.
• In the event that the author (s) notices a mistake or error in their published work, early appearance or evaluation stage, the journal editor or publisher has an obligation to cooperate with the editor in informing, correcting or withdrawing.
• Authors cannot have their work in the application process of more than one journal at the same time. Each application can be started following completion of the previous application. Studies published in another journal cannot be sent to our journal.


ETHICAL RESPONSIBILITIES OF REFEREES

All studies must be evaluated by "Double Blind Refereeing". The evaluation process of our journal is carried out with the principle of double-blind refereeing. Referees cannot contact the authors directly, evaluations and comments are submitted through the journal management system. In this process, the referee comments on the evaluation forms and full texts are sent to the author (s) through the editor. In this context, it is expected that referees evaluating a study for our journal have the following ethical responsibilities:

• Should only accept study evaluation related to the field of expertise.
• It should evaluate in impartiality and confidentiality.
• If he / she thinks that he / she faces a conflict of interest during the evaluation process, he / she should refuse to review the study and inform the editor of the journal.
• Due to the confidentiality principle, they should destroy the studies they examine after the evaluation process. They can only use the final versions of the studies they have reviewed, only after they are published.
• Make the assessment objectively only in relation to the content of the study. It should not allow nationality, gender, religious beliefs, political beliefs, and business concerns to influence the assessment.
• The assessment should be made in a constructive and courteous language. He should not make derogatory personal comments that contain hostility, slander and insult.
• They must perform the work they have accepted to evaluate, in a timely manner and with the above ethical responsibilities.


ETHICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF EDITORS

General duties and responsibilities

Editors are responsible for every publication published in our journal. In the context of this responsibility, editors have the following roles and responsibilities:

• Making efforts to meet the information needs of readers and writers,
• Continuous improvement of the journal,
• Conducting processes to improve the quality of studies published in the journal,
• Supporting freedom of thought,
• Ensuring academic integrity,
• Continuing business processes without compromising intellectual property rights and ethical standards,
• Showing clarity and transparency in terms of publication in matters that require correction and explanation.


Relations with the reader

Editors should make decisions by considering the knowledge, skills and experience expectations of all readers, researchers and practitioners. The published studies should be paid attention to the readers, researchers, practitioners and contributors to the scientific literature and to be original. In addition, editors are obliged to take into account the feedback from readers, researchers and practitioners and to provide explanatory and informative feedback.

Relations with authors

Editors' duties and responsibilities towards authors are as follows:
• Editors should make positive or negative decisions based on the importance of the work, its original value, validity, clarity of expression, and the journal's goals and objectives.
• Unless the studies that are suitable for the scope of the publication do not have serious problems, they should be included in the pre-evaluation stage.
• Editors should not ignore positive referee suggestions unless there is a serious problem with the work.
• New editors should not change the decisions made by the previous editor (s) regarding the work, unless there is a serious problem.
• The blind referee evaluation process must be published and editors must prevent any deviations that may occur in the defined processes.
• Editors should publish in an editorial rules section that includes in detail every subject expected by the authors. These guides should be updated periodically.
• An explanatory and informative notification and feedback should be provided to the authors.


Relations with referees

The duties and responsibilities of editors towards referees are as follows:
• It should determine the referees according to the subject of the study.
• It is obliged to provide the information and guides that referees will need during the evaluation phase.
• It has to observe whether there is a conflict of interest between the authors and referees.
• In the context of blind refereeing, the identity information of the referees should be kept confidential.
• Encourage referees to consider working in an impartial, scientific and objective language.
• Evaluate the referees with criteria such as timely return and performance.
• It should determine practices and policies that increase the performance of referees.
• Take the necessary steps to dynamically update the referee pool.
• Avoid impolite and unscientific evaluations.
• Take steps to ensure that the referee pool is made up of a broad spectrum.


Relations with the editorial board

Editors should ensure that all editorial board members advance processes in accordance with publication policies and guidelines. The editorial board should inform its members about the publication policies and keep them informed about the developments. The new editorial board should educate its members on publication policies and provide the information they need.

In addition, the editors;
• Editorial board members should ensure that they evaluate the work impartially and independently.
• Identify the new editorial board members who can contribute and are appropriate.
• The editorial board should send the works appropriate to the field of expertise of the members for evaluation.
• Interacting with the editorial board regularly.
• Organize meetings with the editorial board at regular intervals for the development of publishing policies and the journal.


Editorial and blind review processes

Editors; It is obliged to implement the "Blind Refereeing and Evaluation Process" policies in the journal publishing policies. In this context, editors ensure that each work is completed in a fair, impartial and timely evaluation process. Article submitted to Journal of Quantitative Sciences (JofQS) is pre-reviewed by the Editorial Board in terms of its suitability to the Journal’s Focus and Scope and Guide for Authors. An eligible article is sent to two reviewers for blind-review. In the case of one Reject and one Accept or Accept with Minor/Major Revision situation, the article is sent to a third reviewer. In case of Major Revision, the article may directly be rejected. When needed the Editorial Board might send the article to more reviewers. In accordance with the decisions of reviewers, the article is either Rejected or Accepted with/without Revision. The revised article should be uploaded via DergiPark in a month. The revised article that is not re-submitted within a month will be accepted for reconsideration in later issues.

Quality assurance

Editors; is responsible for publishing every article published in the journal in accordance with the journal publishing policies and international standards.


Protection of personal data

Editors; It is obliged to ensure the protection of personal data regarding the subjects or images in the evaluated studies. Unless the express consent of the individuals used in the studies is documented, it is responsible for refusing to work. In addition, the editors; is responsible for protecting the individual data of the author, referee and readers.

Ethics committee, human and animal rights

Editors; is obliged to ensure the protection of human and animal rights in the evaluated studies. Ethics committee approval for the subjects used in the studies is responsible for refusing to work in cases where there is no permission for experimental research.

Prevention against possible misconduct and misconduct

Editors; is obliged to take precautions against possible abuse and misconduct. In addition to conducting a meticulous and objective investigation in determining and evaluating complaints regarding this situation, it is among the editor's responsibilities to share the findings on the subject.

To ensure academic publication integrity

Editors should ensure that any errors, inconsistencies, or misleading judgments in the work are quickly corrected.

Protection of intellectual property rights

Editors; It is obliged to protect the intellectual property rights of all published articles and to defend the rights of the journal and the author (s) in possible violations. In addition, editors are obliged to take the necessary measures to ensure that the content in all published articles does not violate the intellectual property rights of other publications.

Constructiveness and openness to discussion

Editors;
• Should take into account the persuasive criticism of the works published in the journal and display a constructive attitude towards these criticisms.
• The author (s) of the criticized studies should give the right to reply.
• Should not ignore or exclude studies with negative results.


Complaints

Editors; is obliged to respond in an enlightening and descriptive manner by carefully examining the complaints from authors, referees or readers.

Political and Commercial concerns

Journal owner, publisher, and any other political or commercial aspect does not affect the independent decision-making of the editors.

Conflicts of interest

Editors; It guarantees the completion of the publication process of the manuscripts in an independent and impartial manner, taking into account the conflicts of interest between the author (s), referees and other editors.
